Fashion designer, stylist, art director, entrepreneur and deejay… what more could the 26-year-old Linda Hao possibly try next? Linda has come a long way to make a name for herself. While she was a student at Temasek Polytechnic, she recalls “not behaving like a typical student who just focuses on getting that perfect test score”.
She had a different outlook on life compared to others and was also learning to become a deejay while working multiple part-time jobs in the fashion industry, such as at Ambush, Black Market and freelancing as a model.
However, despite having so many things going on in her life, she felt that her lecturers did not like her and she did not have many friends in school. “People often told me that I was intimidating. It must have been the way I dressed and the fact that I had a job,” says Linda.
Linda’s exquisite sense of style started from the J-POP era when she was looking at Japanese street style magazines. Since then, she’s been evolving her style. “Dressing up is the only thing that doesn’t have rules and regulations, so have fun with it,” says Linda.
Whenever Linda comes up with a new project, she will not hesitate to execute it. She has become so comfortable with the fact that nothing is perfect and that failures do come from time to time. “I hope that all youths could have the same courage to look fear and failure in the eye and to know that it is all part of the learning process,” says Linda.
