As we get older and busier, we need to find ways to de-stress and just be. For yoga instructor Angeline Yeo, 24, it’s just that. At her young age, she has successfully opened a yoga studio, Yoga+, with her fellow instructors, Suffian Thuri, 31 and Dr Bianca Pereche-Gamboa, 29.
A fresh graduate when she first started teaching yoga, Angeline exclaimed: “Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected to be doing this at the age of 24!”
Opened on 3 September 2016, Yoga+ helps their customers create an experience beyond the mat and physical asanas (a posture adopted in hatha yoga), making yoga a state of mind and a lifestyle with accessibility.
On its concept, Angeline explained: “We wanted to create a space that elevates the experience of yoga beyond just the physical workout - to something that brings valuable lessons to individuals both on and off the mat.
Yoga+ believes that the benefits of yoga does not just lie within the physical, but also helps to take away the daily stress of life, such as jobs, relationships or various obstacles that come our way.
Yoga+’s classes cater to a wide variety of people, who are at different levels of their practice, but most yoga classes are multi-level and cater to everyone. Classes are named Basic, Revitalise, Invert, Power and Flow. When asked for advice to those wanting to try yoga, Angeline said: “Just try anyway! Growth always lies outside of the comfort zone."
