Green Living in Style with NOC
Story by Mar’ atun Salihah
One of the biggest challenges confronting the world now is sustainable development. Through the Youths Celebrate! Sustainability event happening on the 19th and 20th May at Gardens by the Bay, we found out how YouTubers, Night Owl Cinematics, are doing their part.
Co-founder and influencer of Night Owl Cinematics, Sylvia Chan, 29, and Joanna Lim, 27, will be having a meet-and-greet session on the 20 May at the Youths Celebrate! Sustainability event at Gardens by the Bay. They will be sharing how creative reusing has influenced their dressing and business.
They said: “Each one of us has an integral role in protecting our environment, there are more ways we can help to be eco-friendly. It is never too late to act now to protect our environment.” They will be offering some of their fashion tips, styles and trends as well.
“While there are many ways to make your wardrobe sustainable, the simplest way would be reusing and repurposing. Take some time to identify and categorize the clothing you already own and you might be delighted by how many looks you could achieve by simply mixing and matching them,” they said.
Apart from the meet-and-greet with the YouTubers, there will be various activities throughout the two days such as green workshops, performances and more in the theme of the event.
“It’s important for youths to first recognize and understand the importance of sustainability and how it would affect our future. From there, youths should reach out and bring together their peers with the same goals and aim for an effective transformation of the world into a better place for all,” they said.
However, the misconception is that many people are stuck into thinking that nothing they do will make a difference in the world. The team at Night Owl Cinematics believes that any action taken at any level plays a part.
“We are working on an implementation of power saving policy into our working environment. This will not only help in reducing our business energy costs but plays a part in sustainability,” they said.
In an effort to build a greater eco movement, we all have a role to play and learn to widen our social responsibility. Come and meet your favourite YouTubers from Night Owl Cinematics on 20 May, 6.15pm at the Supertree Grove and soak in a whole new experience.
