Ever wondered if a weird beauty trend is just a fraud? CATCH Online is here to test it out for you!
Story & Photo by Elaine Tan
The rise of the beauty scene online has birthed many new beauty trends. Many of these trends are highly useful, but some are downright weird - either utilising items that shouldn’t be used on the face or putting yourself through slight torture, all for the price of beauty.
JAMSU
Created by the Land of Beauty, South Korea, this trend is a definite hit. This South Korean technique is perfect for those who want a flawless and long lasting makeup base, using just baby powder and iced water. The technique is raved by many beauty YouTubers to help tighten the skin, minimize the appearance of pores and help makeup last longer than usual. Just be sure to prepare yourself for the piercing cold of the ice water!
EGG AS DUPE FOR BEAUTY BLENDER
There are many alternatives to a beauty blender these days, ranging from actual sponge dupes or even silicone bra pads. However, we have to agree that nothing is weirder than using a hardboiled egg as a blending sponge. The cool texture of the egg is supposedly refreshing against the skin, and when paired with the shape of the egg, is said to actually work like a beauty blender. But, does it, really?
SOAP AS BROW WAX
Perfect brows are all the hype these days, so what happens when you don’t have brow wax to keep your unruly brows in check? Use a soap bar, of course! The wax from the soap will hold your brows in place for the entire day, and keep it clean at the same time.
