Why the name Accents of Gold?
It’s because I wear a lot of gold jewelry. Honestly, I couldn’t think of any other appropriate name.
When did you started blogging?
I actually started blogging about a year back. I think it’s because I was very active on Instagram and I got a lot of likes for the photos I posted. My friend suggested that I blog about it instead. I was a little scared of judgement and criticism. But after awhile, I thought like whatever, say whatever you want about me. But I don’t want to be like other blogs that advertise everything. I wanted it to be a space where people can know who I am, find out about the things I like to do, the things I like to eat, the brands I like. I get scared when people call me a fashion blogger because I just blog about ‘me’.
You recently had a photo shoot with Jean Yip SG, you wanna tell us more about it?
Someone from Jean Yip contacted me via email to do a shoot for them. Everyone there was really nice and all I had to do was blog about it. It was very fun, the hairdresser played around with my hair. When they contacted me, I still had long hair and so a few months later I cut my hair off and I said: “Hey, I have short hair, do you still want to play with my hair?” They said they still want to do it.
When you do brand endorsements, do you get paid?
The Jean Yip gig is actually my first brand endorsement and no, I did not get paid. For me, it’s a way of putting yourself out there. For me it’s not about the money, it’s more about the experience. Especially when you’re young, I’m just 20 and money isn’t very important to me right now.
Is there anyone who inspires you?
I like looking at street style a lot. I like Rihanna's style a lot. It is very chic. It is very streetstyle, very 'badass'. I follow a lot of fashion bloggers, such as Rumi Neely. I don’t see the point in following trends, I just wear whatever I want to wear.
Where do you usually shop?
I don’t really shop that often, though people are not going to believe me on this. But I shop at Zara, H&M, Topshop and Cotton On sometimes. I don’t shop online.
What motivates you to do what you do?
It’s being heard and being seen. I just really like doing what I do and I can’t imagine myself doing anything else. I ever wondered before if I’m in the right industry. But at the end of the day, when I look back at all the things I have done and all the experiences I have gone through, I would have never given it away for anything else. Fashion is who I am and I plan to stick to it.
