Going Back In Time: Relooking into our Past

Past life regression is a self-improvement therapy that’s said to help understand one’s current problems in life. CATCH caught up with Wendy Yeung, a healing therapist, to find out her take on it.

Believe it or not, you can look back on your past life to help with understanding your current problems in life. But what is past life regression really about?

No other person than Wendy Yeung, 40, a healing therapist from Origins Arising, can explain this form of therapy better.

Origins Arising is a centre specialising in holistic healing services. These include past life regression, channelled guidance, soul symbols healing, etc.

Wendy entered this field in 2010 after a bad episode with migraine. She recalls having a bad migraine for 10 years and shares that being healed by her friend, a holistic healer, helped to completely eliminate her migraine.

This allowed Wendy to learn about a reiki healing course, and made her set up her own therapy centre business, Origins Arising, which she operates from her home.

Wendy believes that all the instances that make us angry or upset - from the arguments with our loved ones to the setbacks that deemed us a failure - could mean a life lesson for us.

“When my patients undergo therapy sessions like these, it is meant to empower them,” Wendy stated.

She went on to talk about the therapy being a reflective form of healing. Something that requires us to free our emotions and thoughts that hold us back.

“We may not know it, but the memories from previous lifetimes are there, and it affects the issues we face today,” she added. “It boils down to our values and beliefs whether we want to accept traces of memories from the past.”

Ask any regular person if they can understand what this means and they’ll probably reply with a quizzical look.

With Wendy’s background in healing work, such as past life regression therapy, she firmly believes that we had a past life that has just been buried in our heads.

In short, past life regression therapy allows you to delve into another life dimension or a ‘past life’. You will explore and realise past events, and gain the clarity from them to help understand your current issues today.

How does past life regression work?

The patient is put to a relaxed state gradually while their eyes are shut, while on a recliner chair.

Next, they will be asked questions relating to images they see and sensations that they feel in their “new vision”.

In this vision, they will see two rows of doors in a hallway. The patient will unlock a door and travel into a “past life”.

Ultimately, it is believed that we can solve our problems based on a hypnotherapy session. But how far does it help us?

For one, the memories captured during the hypnosis session, and whatever the patients are hypnotised to say, can just be “controlled” with guidance from the healing therapist. Next, the patients’ memories also allude to familiar truths and sights in their actual lifetime.

After the therapy, the patient knows how to deal with their problems in a bolder manner. Take it like putting the last piece in the jigsaw puzzle.

“Many of us are unhappy about bad experiences from the past, which affect how we think and behave now,” she shared.

Essentially, Wendy believes that we cannot fix or anticipate certain situations. Instead, the way to go is to view things in a different and more positive light - remember the jigsaw puzzle scenario.

Past life regression is an alternative healing to understanding our personal life problems. Let alone a non-mainstream service, compared to seeking help from life coaches or a doctor. We would not know if past life regression is useful for us until we try it for ourselves.
