Masculine Beauty
You could say beauty is skin deep, so while it’s common for girls to put on make-up, would it still be unorthodox for guys in this day and age?

Eyeliners, eye-shadows, lipsticks, blushes of different colours and shades. It was like looking at a painter’s palette except the canvas was our own face reflected by the mirrors we were given. With no instruction on what to use and how to use it, we were left stumbling around for the limited items on the desk and a picture to follow.
When I was told that the guys were going to try makeup, the first word that came to mind was “girly”. But that was just my masculine side talking. After all, how hard could it be? Only after having experienced first-hand did I realise why it takes women at least 10 minutes to get theirs on for the day.
For a beginner, I thought I did fairly well with what little knowledge I had on makeup. But maybe there is a little more to it than having first-hand experience with it.
I knew about famous male YouTubers and make-up artists such as James Charles, Jeffree Star and Manny Gutierrez.
But we’re not just talking about homosexuals, transgenders or cross-dressers who are known for appearing more feminine in public. Even straight men are keen on enhancing their features for special occasions.
As we are growing to be more open-minded as a society, more practices that are commonly associated with one particular gender are being accepted by the other.
Take metro-sexual guys for example. Us men could really learn a thing or two about how to properly groom ourselves. So ladies, don’t be afraid to show us the ropes.
For me, personally, I don’t plan on using any in the near future because the last thing I would want is to add another five minutes to my daily routine. On the other hand, if you are a guy reading this and you plan to “borrow” your girlfriend’s, sister’s, or even your mother’s lip balm and concealer ... by all means. Though, it would be preferable if you asked them first.
