Editor's Note

Fairy tales are not just created for literary imagination with magic, wizards, and knights in shining armour, they hold deep meaning. Fairy tales, like dreams and our blissful childhood, do come to an end… whoever said we have to leave that life behind entirely?

As adulthood creeps in, we chase wealth and power, losing ourselves in material possessions and questioning our moral compass. We hide our inner child to appear stronger and better than what we previously were. Little do we know, the unique and valuable lessons learnt in our childhood still play a great factor in our lives today and in the decisions we make.

In the 42nd issue of CATCH magazine, we revisit and reconnect to our childhood days when we were mindlessly watching fairy tales.

Beginning with this tale, Captain of the Neverland who would not grow up lives in his never-ending childhood, going on dreamy adventures meeting various people. CATCH! caught up with Terence Heng, who long dreamt of practising medicine and has achieved that very childhood dream working as a doctor. No dream is impossible and it is never too late to start working towards those dreams.

Following the trailing crumbs to the Candy House, we explore drug addiction with Simon Khung. An ex-drug addict who leads us through his addiction journey and gained fame through creating content on TikTok.

Just like a Puppet on emotional strings wishing upon a star, Manivannan Batumalay, was heartbroken by the lack of a father figure from when he was eight years old. He has spent his adulthood in search of his father, wishing to find him once again.

Last but not least, come to the Tea Party with our cover story – Insyirah Moidu aka Merliah Mermaid, Asia’s first plus-sized mermaid. We discover more about her life as a mermaid and her battle with body positivity.

Life passes by us so quickly yet the lessons learned and the morals taught are lifelong. Join us in this adventure of The Moral Compass with an open heart and an open mind and leave feeling regenerated with a new perspective to life.

Cheers,
