Editor's Note

As we grow older, we also grow more pliable to the world, giving way to insecurities and fear.

Things like chasing your dreams — no matter how badly you want it — feel incredibly daunting. It’s during times like these that the people around me have given me strength and shown me that I can accomplish what I thought was unattainable.

This is why, for CATCH’s 43rd Edition, we decided to dwell on the topic of uncovering empowerment. We give a voice to the seemingly ordinary, yet extraordinary people.

Admire the Super Strength of a female bodybuilder, Tammy, who wants to transcend society’s standards and ends up finding her refuge in the sport.

Get ensnared in a world of Super Senses, with our cover story on Dong ASMR. He soothes his viewers with the gentle sounds from ordinary objects to strengthen them in the same way it helps him.

Since Time Manipulation isn’t possible, Douglas Ng takes his chances to preserve Hawker Culture in modern Singapore even though it’s a dying trade.

With intricate wigs, clothing pieces and a ton of makeup palettes, Shapeshifting into a character for cosplay is no easy feat. Sophie Amelia, having dedicated five years of their life to finding empowerment through cosplaying, leads us through their journey and love for it.

With this issue, the CATCH team hopes to bring you a sense of purpose and determination to find that everyone is a superhero in their own way — you just need to find the right things that empower you.

To empowerment,

Trinice Aurelia Tan
