Alyssa’s Choice: Fall for You by Secondhand Serenade

This iconic emo melody comforts me in moments of  love and heartbreak. As musicians, we’ve listened to a plethora of songs, yet Fall for You remains firmly "our song." I first played it for him when we started dating; the first time I’ve performed for anyone. During our rocky period, the song played on the radio, and our eyes met, a mix of shock and bittersweetness filled the air.

Honourable mentions: Love Story by Taylor Swift, New House by Rex Orange County

Kelly’s Choice: Fourth of July by Sufjan Stevens

Fourth of July encapsulates a poignant conversation between Sufjan Stevens and his dying mother, Carrie. Despite its melancholy tone, the song, with terms of endearment like 'my firefly' and 'my little Versailles,' serves as a reminder to cherish our loved ones.

Ella’s Choice: calla by wave to earth

Calla is not your typical love song. It is a track I’ll never grow tired of, striking a deep chord and serving as a constant reminder to persist through difficulties. Much like the Calla flower, we too can rebound, as long as we remain courageous in the face of obstacles.

Honourable mentions:  0X1 LOVESONG (I Know I Love You) by Tomorrow X Together (feat. Seori), ABBA - Our Last Summer

Falisha’s Choice: I Hear a Symphony by Cody Fry

Hauntingly beautiful - these are the two words that I would use to describe the essence of love, and I Hear a Symphony is a perfect reflection of it. With only three verses and no chorus, the song’s structure reflects the simplicity of love. Yet, as the captivating orchestral symphony gracefully entwines around the song, it captures the breathtaking beauty that love is.

Honourable mentions: ONLY by Lee Hi, pov by Ariana Grande

Jayden’s Choice: Best Part by Daniel Caesar (feat. H.E.R)

In this mesmerising R&B ballad, Caesar and H.E.R complement each other flawlessly with their velvety, soul-stirring vocals. I feel as if I'm floating every time I listen to Best Part, and my heart resonates most with these lines: “You’re the coffee that I need in the morning / You’re my sunshine in the rain when it’s pouring.”

Honourable mentions: Jonny by Faye Webster, My Love Mine All Mine by Mitski
