1. Homemade Chawanmushi
Chawanmushi (Savory Egg Custard/茶碗蒸し) is a delicate and savoury Japanese appetiser.
Ingredients:
1 large egg
135ml chicken stock
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
Instructions:
Beat the egg lightly.
Add the chicken stock, salt and Japanese soy sauce to the egg. Mix well.
Strain the egg liquid through a wire mesh strainer.
Cover the teacup with the lid, aluminum foil or cling wrap
Steam for 15-20 minutes over low heat with lid-on. Serve.
2. French Toast
Ingredients:
4 large eggs
2/3 cup milk
8 thick slices bread
Butter (can substitute with vegetable oil)
Maple syrup
Instructions:
Whisk eggs and milk until well blended.
Pour mixture into a shallow bowl to place the bread.
Soak each slice of bread into the milk egg mixture.
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.
Reduce excess mixture and place the bread slices onto the hot skillet.
Flip and fry the French toast until browned on each side.
Serve the French toast hot with butter, maple syrup, and/or fresh berries.
3. Spaghetti Bolognese
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 medium onions (chopped)
500g minced beef
1 packet of your desired pasta type
1 jar of Prego Traditional Tomato Pasta sauce
Additional (Optional): Cheese sausages, shredded chicken, button mushrooms
50g mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
Put a large saucepan on medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
Add in chopped onions and stir until soft.
Add in minced beef and ¾ of the Prego Traditional Tomato Pasta sauce. Stir until meat turns brown.
Adjust heat to small flames and cover the saucepan with a lid. Bring to a boil and stir every once in a while.
Put a separate pot on medium heat and add about half a pot of water.
Wait for water to boil before adding in the desired amount of pasta.
Drain the pasta and serve it with the tomato pasta sauce poured over.
Optional: Drizzle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce and serve.
4. Garlic Bread with Scrambled Eggs
Ingredients:
1 cup of melted butter
3 garlic cloves (minced)
1 loaf of french bread/regular bread
2 tablespoons of fresh parsley (minced)
2 or 3 eggs
Instructions:
Combine garlic, parsley and ½ cup of the butter, in a bowl. Brush the mixture on both sides of the bread of choice.
Place bread on a baking sheet and bake at 350° for 8 minutes or until golden brown.
Crack the eggs into a bowl and stir until the white and yolk are combined.
Pour the remaining butter into a saucepan until the liquid is slightly brown.
Add the eggs into the saucepan for 5 minutes. Pull the liquid inwards towards the center with a spatula until the eggs are scrambled.
Pile the scrambled eggs on top of the garlic bread.
Serve and enjoy!
