Going Solo

Sometimes your best companion is yourself. If you don’t usually take yourself on solo dates, it's time for you to discover your main character moments. Here, we’ll give you some ideas on ways to love yourself and get you out of your comfort zone!

1) Home Alone

To start small, why not stay in and try some simple ways of self-care? Pamper yourself in the comfort of your own home with a face mask or engage in activities like puzzles and your favourite games. For something a bit more unique, try your hands at making your very own candle using a DIY kit.

Comfort Level: 10/10 (an easy way to stay at home and chill!)

2) Romanticise your Own Life with Art

A solo trip to a museum like the National Gallery would best suit an artistic soul. Walk around the exhibition halls to view various thought-provoking paintings and detailed sculptures. If you are more of a film buff, then catch the latest flick at The Projector which is one of Singapore’s most prominent independent movie theatres.

Comfort Level: 8/10 (accompany yourself and fill your thoughts with all things art.)

3) Table for One Please!

Dining out alone doesn’t have to be a daunting task. There are many food spots around Singapore that are suitable for solo diners, like Genki Sushi or Yakiniku Like. If you are feeling a bit more ambitious, you can even treat yourself to a scrumptious meal of hotpot or enjoy a buffet to your stomach’s content.

Comfort Level: 5/10 (this might be a bit more of a challenge depending on how comfortable you are with solo eating!)

4) Minimum Pax, Maximum Fun

Do you hesitate to go to a theme park if there is no one with you? This article is your sign to take the plunge and just go alone. Universal Studios has many exhilarating roller coasters to guarantee you a thrilling good time. A good tip would be to head over to the single rider lanes to elevate your solo date experience!

Comfort Level: 4/10 (tons of fun but if you are scared of heights, this might be a bit more daunting.)

5) Become a Solo Explorer

For the ultimate adventure, embark on a journey out of Singapore! With just a ferry ride away from the mainland, The Southern Islands can expand your horizons with new experiences. Enjoy cycling along the picturesque views of Lazarus Island or seek Kusu Island’s unique mysteries surrounding turtles. To up the challenge, bring along a tent for a camping trip like no other.

Comfort Level: 1/10 (only for curious minds and the best navigators to avoid getting lost!)
